About Aslan
"Behold, the Lion of
the Tribe of Judah hath prevailed." (Rev. 5:5)

Lion en Bronze, Nouveau Louvre, by Feu Barye

Aslan the Lion is a character from C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia. In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the second book of the Chronicles series, Aslan, the rightful ruler of the magical land of Narnia, sacrifices himself to save Narnia from the tyrannical rule of the evil White Witch. Upon his returning to life, Aslan destroys the witch's spell that has kept Narnia in years of perpetual winter.

C.S. Lewis was one of the greatest Christian writers of the twentieth century. In Chronicles, Aslan is symbolic of Jesus Christ, who likewise sacrificed Himself to save mankind from perpetual darkness, and, upon His returning to life, freed us from slavery to fear and death.
