OK, I must confess to being a TV geek.  As a kid, I used to look forward to the annual TV Guide Fall Preview edition more than I looked forward to the yearly releases of Topps baseball cards. I would read about all the new shows and check out the daily grid for the three networks and gleefully watch just about every new series (and returning favorites) until summer reruns came along.  Well, when I was a month shy of eleven years old, I decided to hold on to the family copy of that magazine for posterity.  I have done this ever since, up to and including the most recent issue, heralding the coming 2001-2002 season.

So, how does a person put this mass of TV trivia to good use?  One doesn't.  But I can put it to some sort of use.  Thus, I'm offering here a few little quizzes, each covering a single season's preview edition.  Click on the links below and you'll be taken to the quizzes.  Each one has a maximum score of 10 points.  Don't be put off too quickly.  The first quiz may well be the toughest.  The cover shots below correspond to the quizzes and may provide a little more info for figuring out which year each preview was released.  Note: when I mention "year," I'm talking about the year the issue was put on the news racks, so the 2001-2002 season's TV Guide Preview would be noted as the year 2001.

Needless to say, you're not supposed to cheat, though you're on the honor system.  It's not all that hard if you search the Internet to find out dates, actors, and the like.  It's much more impressive to prove you're old than simply to pretend.  When you get tired of playing, click on the Answers link to see how you did.
