FOCUS Fiber Optic FAQ

Oconee County SC has recently released a list of ISPs selling services off the County FOCUS fiber. Innova is one of those companies. While Oconee County has released the list, they have not given us product information or pricing. We are working with county officials to get this list and will publish it as soon as it becomes available. Until then, please follow this link to sign up for updates and information. Let us know that you are interested in the services. The more people in an area that are interested the faster we can get to that area.

Are there installation charges?

Yes. Oconee County charges to connect a home or business. You can think of it as a water tap fee. For a business it is based on the distance from the nearest fiber splice point. Every business is different. If you give us your address, we can provide an installation quote. The most recent information from Oconee County indicates a $400 residential connection fee will apply for new service.

What speeds are available?

Oconee County has not released costs for residential as of 5/1/14. We have some costs for small business and commercial. Because these costs are reliant on construction, we ask that you contact us for a quote.

Is Internet TV service available?

Not currently. We are investigating this service and will update you as we find out more.

Are business services available?

Yes. We offer both small business and enterprise services. Speeds are available from 20 Mbps to 1 Gbps.

How do you get the service to my home or business?

This is called the last mile construction. We will build a link from your home, business or neighborhood to the nearest splice point in the County fiber system. The fiber will come underground to the foundation of your home or building. We attach a network interface device (NID) to the foundation wall. From that NID we run a cable into the home and connect to your home network. If you do not have a home network, we can install that also. Separate installation charges may apply to installing a home network. The same goes for a business. Although , in some cases, the NID may be installed in the business and not outside.

When will the service be available in my area?

It depends on a number of factors. How far you are from the currently installed fiber and how many people want the service in a given area are the biggest factors.

Why should I tell my neighbors to sign up for the service?

The more interest we have in an area the less per home the construction charges will be. This makes it more affordable for each homeowner. Tell your friends to sign up on this page so we will be able to see who is interested in your neighborhood.

Will wireless be available?

Wireless is not part of the County FOCUS project. If you are in a remote location from the FOCUS fiber, we may use wireless to get you that last mile connection. As with fiber connections, installation charges may apply.
